When SAS/IML^® Studio is invoked, a welcome message might appear that includes the following:

The message might appear although a local SAS installation is present.

You should first attempt to register the local SAS server at a CMD prompt with the REGSERVER option. The following is an example:

If registering the local SAS server does not help, then your system might not have 8.3 "short-name" file support. If 8.3 short-name is file support is not enabled, the issue can be corrected by editing the registry. Locate the following registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{CF7BC7E6-C7E8-11D5-87E3-00C04F38F9F6}\LocalServer32

The default data value might be similar to the following:

C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.4\SAS.EXE -config "C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.4\sasv9.cfg" -objectserver -nologo -noterminal –noprngetlist

Add double quotation marks to the SAS.EXE path:

"C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.4\SAS.EXE" -config "C:\Program Files\SASHome\SASFoundation\9.4\sasv9.cfg" -objectserver -nologo -noterminal –noprngetlist
